Gum Olibanum

Gum Olibanum is a resin that exudes specifically from the trunks of the trees of Boswellia specie that are natural to Ethiopia, Oman, Somalia and Sudan. Botanical names of the trees are Boswellia Carterii (Ethiopia) and Boswellia Sacra (Oman). The shape of the collected gum is irregular and its color is yellow to golden. Common names for the gum include Loban, Olibanum, Frankincense, lubban, encens, kadidlo, hojary, Aromatine derva, dhoop, oliban.

Gum Olibanum is used as incense for burning in rituals of Orthodox Christian dioceses and various other religious communities. It has uses in nutraceuticals, aroma therapy, perfumes, stabilizers, skin-care products, flavors, extracts, cosmetics, Ayurveda & other alternative therapies, incense sticks and air fresheners.
